letter to my baby

Dear little one,

The time is almost here for you to make your big arrival. Back in January when Daddy and I found out you were on your way, September seemed a long way off in the distance. Here we are though staring down the last days of August and getting more anxious to meet you by the minute.

The house has been a flurry of activity... all for you little man! Your room should be close to ready by the end of the day, even though I doubt you'll see much of it for the first little while, other than for occasional bum change. Mommy has spent lots of time agonizing over it, so I hope you love it as much as we do when it's all finished! There's lots more to be done before you get here too, like cleaning and shopping and getting everything spic and span. Mommy wants everything to be perfect for your first few days in this big world, even though you'll soon find out that this is a far from perfect world, and that it's the imperfection that makes it so much fun. Life is like a big adventure, there are scary parts and exciting parts, and even sad parts, but all of those are balanced out by some amazing parts that are full of happiness and sheer joy. You are one of those joyful parts in the adventures of all those who await you.... especially Mommy's, Daddy's and big sister Thyra's.

We have spent so much time talking about you, and thinking about you and dreaming about you that we can hardly wait for you to get here. No one has the slightest idea who you'll look like or who you'll be like... maybe just yourself! And that's ok with us, because whoever you are, whatever you look like, and whatever you become, you are so loved and wanted already. You are the missing piece of our little family puzzle. The piece that will complete the picture.
