Reunion

It was almost worth Gavan being gone so long to see the look on the boys' faces when they finally saw him come through the doors at the airport.

Because Malachi had refused to talk to his dad on the phone while he was away, and acted funny every time he called, I was expecting him to play shy or give Gavan the cold shoulder for a few minutes. And I wasn't sure if Kashton would even really get the fact that he hadn't seen his dad for so long.

I was wrong on both counts.

Because I had hyped up Gavan's arrival all day to Malachi, I think he was truly excited. He was so giddy when we got to the airport I had to put him back in the stroller to contain him. When he finally saw his dad, he beamed ear to ear and gave him hugs and kisses galore.

But what was even more priceless was Kashie. He could not wait to be picked up by his dad. And he too had the hugest grin on his face. Even when we were trying to leave, and Kashton was back in his stroller, he kept craning his head around the side to peek at Gavan and was all giggles and smiles all the way back to the car.

The boys spent the first hour at home, crawling all over their dad, and getting all the snuggles they missed over the last two weeks. I have never seen so many utterly happy faces, and it was hard to put the kids to bed even though they were both over tired.

As for Gavan, he was totally thrilled to be home and see his little guys again. (And a little sad not to see Thyra who had already gone to stay the night at Shiloh's.) He couldn't believe how much he missed them while he was away, and how much they had changed in such a short time.

Malach is saying a ton of new words, and saying others properly instead of mispronouncing them like he used to, and putting some together. (Usually involving requests for food, "More Mama? Please Mummy?")

Kashton is officially crawling, which I had kept a secret. When Gav left, he was getting pretty close, and could manage to get around, but now you can put him in one room, and he'll find you in the next.

We're glad you're back Gav! We missed you!

finally!

Malachi can hardly believe it!
